Moment

Take a moment just for you. Remember you are small, but you are strong.

The calm ocean flows and recedes but over time it erodes. Life is a series of moments. They all add up to make something so much bigger. Make your equation a good one.

Float

I'm Yours, the awesome version

Covering Jason Mraz's I'm Yours.

I have a thing for covers, they're almost always at least a little better than the original. This is no exception. Facial expressions alone and I'm sold. Bang bang!

It's been a Michael Jackson kind of day today at my place.

Life and Love

While listening to Mo speak with an Italian client, I realized that his accent is only really audible when speaking to a non-native english speaker. He stops using articles and his words take on a farsi flair.

I think that means he'll never lose it completely no matter how great his mastery or how Canadian his tongue becomes. It reminds me of our early days together, he was so cute!
Clearly he still is.

Both of these images are from a project that featured young photographers photographing their favourite people. At least, I think they are. Of course, I can't find the link in my bazillions of bookmarks and tineye.com gave me nothing. Note to self: be better organized!

Mei Meets Totoro

I would love to have a nap on a very fuzzy Totoro. My Neighbour Totoro, by Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli.

Ugg A Wugg Ugg A Wugg Ugg A Wugg

I was obsessed with this version of Peter Pan as a kid. I loved that a girl could be a boy and that a grown up could be a kid, it is such a perfect embodiment of the perpetually young lost boys. Mary Martin has such great chemistry with the kids and she is such a joyful Peter. I hated Wendy though. When my friends and I pretended to be the characters I was always Peter, or Tigerlily.

The video taped version I watched over and over was awful quality, but I loved it anyway. Check out this awesome choreography below. I know that at least part of my lasting fascination with theatre and dance can be traced back to my studying of this production as a six year old. I should probably admit that the refusal to grow up thing really took root as well.

Muji

I want to move in to the revamped MUJI website.

play MUJI and MUJI rhythm (careful, links play music) are so so clean with just the right amount of fun.

I loved this movie. It made me cry in the beginning! This remix only adds to the good.

Green Porno

I stumbled upon Isabella Rossellini's Green Porno yesterday and had to watch them all in one sitting. Ridiculous absurdity. My favourite kind of funny.

I couldn't decide which to share here, but I finally settled on the spider.

I love the way she moves!

More here: Green Porno on Sundance Channel. Watch them all, you won't regret it.

When the cover is better

This amazing cover has been around and around the internet and back again, much like the flight path below. I am in love with the voices of these girls and can't seem to get sick of their cover of Fleet Foxes' Tiger Mountain Peasant Song. Aren't they gorgeous? They make me want to run away into the forest with only a flannel round my shoulders and a guitar on my back. Too bad the only instrument I can play is the recorder. I doubt a cover of hot cross buns would be so stunning.

Stop Being so Religious

What
do sad people have in
common?
It seems
They have all built a shrine
to the past
and often go there
and do a strange wail and
Worship.

What is the beginning of
Happiness?
It is to stop being
so religious
like that.

A Rat Named Bug

Oh my! I have never seen anything cuter than Jessica Florence's sweet rat Bug and her tiny collection of teddy bears.

My brother bought me a pair of rats for Christmas one year, without my parent's consent I might add. One was golden blond with dark brown eyes, the other was white with pinky red eyes. My brother was told they were both boys, however, a few weeks later they became twelve! I was such a happy kid, a nest filled with wriggly soft babies to play with. They were so small and sweet. My parents were, on the other hand, not very pleased to have such a disparity in the rat to human ratio in our house. So, mummy rat and babies were all given away and we kept blondie boy for ourselves. He soon became one of my parents favourite ever pets, he was so clever and affectionate. Seeing these pictures of Bug has made we wish I had the space to get another rat for me and my love. I don't think my princess cat would like that too much, she is very spoiled only child pet. For now, I'll be following Jessica's photo stream with envy.

Happy Go Lucky

I saw Happy-Go-Lucky last fall and fell in love with Poppy. All I wanted to do for weeks after was jump on a trampoline, I still do now and I'm sure it would do wonders for my attitude. It's such a spirited and unexpected movie. Go see it. I know you'll love it.

Resting on a Bush

I love this image by Yijun (Pixy) Liao, it reminds me of my sweetheart's Mum who can't help but hug bushes of flowers.

Colour on White

I love Lili Diallo's use of colour and unexpected, imperfect combinations of texture. Burnt orange, indigo blues and white is my current favourite mix.
