That Fantastical Fox

Mo, Lou and I watched The Fantastic Mr. Fox last night.
Oh, it was so good! Like most of Wes Anderson's work. He always manages to create such eclectically whole worlds in his films. I have been a big Roald Dahl fan since I was a young enough to be terrified of The Witches, and I'm a big fan of stop motion puppetry too. I really loved the bandit hats, the signature snapping and whistles of the characters, the word 'cuss' used as a cuss, and perhaps most of all, the music by Alexandre Desplat.

Watch it, you'll love it. I promise!

Partially related side note: As a kid I managed to get the mice from The Witches conflated with the mouse from Beverly Cleary's the Mouse and the Motorcycle. Most confusing. But it did make me think that being a human stuck in the body of a mouse wouldn't be so bad if I got my own motorcycle.

Bobby McFerrin Makes Magic Music

This is magical. Bobby McFerrin makes such unique and beautiful music. Here, with no verbal prompting, he uses his audience as an instrument, an accompaniment. This just proves how innate music is.

Good Things

I've decided to start a list of good things. A collection of goodness if you will. Sometimes when I'm not feeling so wonderful, all I need is a little reminder of the positive, all of the good that there is in my life and the world around me. Now seems like as good a time to start it as any:

• Wild wind on blue sky days
• Sleeping in a little later than my lovey so that I am awoken with:
  
• Fresh, hot french press coffee first thing in the morning
• Hot water, any time, for my bath or shower. This is a very serious luxury if you've ever gone without
  
• Being sent huge amounts dried fruit and nuts and other sweets from Madar. She still manages to feed us all the way from the other side of the world!
  
• Living minutes away from the ocean and a forest you can get lost in while still having all the conveniences of city living right outside our front door
  
• Luna and the joys of kittenhood

The weather has been a little too fall-esque for me this week. Makes me want hot chocolate, big coats, neutral colors and thick sweaters.
